Making choices are part of life and making choices in a way to promote a healthy balanced life can sometimes be a challenge. This comes from living in a world that is shrinking. Now-a-days we have access to more information then ever before which can make it more difficult to achieve a life of balance. It's called information and choice overload. With that it becomes increasingly more difficult to filter what we really want from what we think we want to what we have trained ourselves to believe we want. Yes..that is a lot of want options right there but that is also being real..!



The good news is that we can minimize the pain, stress, and confusion brought on by today's informationally and choice overloaded world. The journey starts with you! Below please find 7 key areas that by paying attention too and becoming conscious of, can ease life's burden, and bring additional clarity to the dilemma of living a balanced life.



1. Faith in Yourself and Beyond



Voltaire once mentioned, “Faith consists in believing when it's past the ability of purpose to believe." Having faith in yourself and / or something beyond you will help to face even the darkest hours. Faith provides you with more peace, and a more open heart. It lights the dark tunnel and allows you to stroll forward courageously.




2. Set Priorities



This means answering the question "what is truly important to me now?" then organizing those things in order of importance. Work with a professional on this because sometimes what was important yesterday is not so important now, and may even further diminish into the future. Just as life changes so do priorities. To get started analyze what is important to you now. Once you begin the process you'll start to notice that it can be a fairly big undertaking when you set out to do it right. Is it worth it? Absolutely, because if you're not setting your own priorities then chances are someone else is / will.



3. Get Relaxation



Rest and sleep are essential to dealing with imbalances in your life. Take time to set a sleep schedule and stick to it. You’ll discover that you'll be able to face a whole lot more after being well rested.



4. Develop Boundaries



Boundaries are bodily, emotional, and non secular barriers that keep us safe, protected and nurtured. Having healthy boundaries empowers us to say no and appeal to what we want into our life and keep out the “garbage." Boundaries help to communicate to others and yourself who you are as well as what you love, care about, and value. Becoming clear on your personal boundaries is priceless, and something that many of today's life coaches are trained to help out with.




5. Positive Self Talk - Not Negative



Balanced living requires balanced thinking. When negative self talk comes up, shut it out and focus on the positive. When you find yourself in challenging moments ask yourself then answer a question like "How do I know when I'm happy?" The simple act of answering that question will force your mind to access positive internal representations which in effect will not only change your mood but consequently end the negative mind chatter. Several techniques found in Neurolinguistic Programming are excellent for killing the negative defeating mind chatter and giving birth and light to positive self talk.



6. Decide to Take Control of You



At any moment in time you have the power of choice at your finger tips. Everything we do comes down to making a choice, even though sometimes it might not seem that way. Are you in a job that does not serve you? Choose to change that. Are you in a relationship that is only getting worse before it gets better? Choose to change that. Are you out of shape and miserable? Choose to change that. Are you in the middle of a transition in life and don't know what to do about it? Take control and choose to change that. The requirement here is having the willingness and then finding the courage to empower yourself to do what's right for you. To re-cap / sum up... Step one: acknowledge the cause of your discontent. Step two: take action to change it.



7. Stay Organized



Along with having your priority checklist and plan, you'll want to have things in your life organized to achieve balance. Your house and workspace will serve you better if it's clear and organized in a way you understand. You'll want to work off a "To Do" list that is realistic, and will provide you with clarity on what you will accomplish for the day. Read books, hire a life coach and soak up those good ideas into your life. Do whatever you can do to get organized and keep it that way.



There are numerous paths that lead toward reaching a life of balance. Now in your possession you have seven of them. By now, you can see that it all begins with making sensible choices that serve your soul, and becoming aware of what truly makes you happy. Stress and confusion are not going away anytime soon on their own; so chances are that unless you consciously decide to take control, like working with a life coach, then it will only increase and get worse.



Allow yourself to discover what works for you (not what others say - but what you say) and commit to doing those things often. Stay committed and focused and you'll shortly begin to see that this is not only a pleasant concept, but a plan for turning a dream of a balanced life into a reality.
